“Kyle did a good job in trying to improve my roll, but I was really hoping to get back my combat roll, which we did not practice. I used to have a great combat roll, but over the last 10 years I have lost confidence in my roll and certainly my combat roll. I have been kayaking for 34 years, and have done the Grand Canyon twice, the upper Gauley 20+ times and the New River up to 8.5', the Cheat Canyon up to 4'.”

“I arrived at NOC a very timid paddler. Blue accessed my skills and gave individual attention to improving my stroke technique, river maneuvers and worked towards bomb-proofing my roll. He challenged my mental game, helping me gain confidence in my ability. Private Instruction with Blue grew my paddling skills exponentially. (Not to mention the awesome lunches and professional NOC teams who support one another). My only regret, I should have came to NOC for instruction 5 years ago. “My instructor Blue on the Nantahala was amazing! Super attentive and motivating to push myself in skill and comfort level. So much so I just signed up for another lesson with him. I feel like I just raised my ability quite a bit after a few days Blue. Looking forward to next time!”

“As a paddler with physical limitations the NOC private instruction was perfect for me! I got to be on the water and push myself but didn’t have to worry about slowing down a group or monopolizing an instructor! I also could take breaks when energy flagged. They even arranged it so I got multiple shots at the falls!!! Well worth the expense! Three trips in 2021 provides more evidence then 5 stars. Anne and Olivia get special shout outs for getting me back on the water and back to the joy of being in the moment.”

“I cannot recommend NOC highly enough. I took a 1 day kayak course with Anne and had the time of my life. The course instruction is clear, challenging, but not discouraging. This was the best possible intro to a new sport and passion. Thank you NOC and Anne for everything. Cant wait for the next lessons!”

“Learning to roll a kayak has been on my bucket list for 20 years. I’ve had minimal experience on a class “0” river in Memphis and no white water kayaking experience. After arriving at the NOC, I was educated about the value of learning the strokes and reading the river prior to focusing on just rolling. Best advice ever! After one day of a group beginners class and two days with a personal instructor, Elvis (not the Memphis Elvis) I left the NOC with a good understanding of the basics and looking forward to returning in the future. Elvis is a great instructor and a pleasure to visit with on the river. NOC bunch rooms was all anyone needs to spent the night. Very basic and Excellent value, with not an ounce of wasted frills.
