“The NOC Paddling School is great. I have had a couple of opportunities so far, once with Frank and second with Blue; both are really talented instructors and make you feel cared for carefully while giving ample chances to grow your skills. I highly recommend NOC for learning opportunities. All of the staff are really helpful and friendly, Jae took good care of my unique situation and was always offering me the best options. “Convinced I have the BEST and definitely most patient instructor ever. Slow learner, not his fault, and I greatly appreciate his patience with a 55 year old out-of-shape woman’s desire to achieve some small degree of mastery of the kayak to enjoy some of the rivers in these beautiful mountains.”

“To start, if you have not paddled enough to understand different paddle strokes and basic boat control, I suggest an intro course. Eli Castleberry was my instructor. My dudes... we had a blast. He helped take my paddling confidence higher, while challenging me with maneuvers throughout the river. Oh... he fixed my roll too. One suggestion. Fixed. River was great, accommodations outstanding. If you choose the private instruction package, be ready to be challenged. 10/10 would do again.”

“I had an amazing time at NOC. Tosh went above and beyond to ensure I had a great vacation. He provided detailed instruction during our lessons and I learned a lot. I can’t wait to come back again for more time on the rivers with NOC!”

“I return to NOC almost yearly. I had an amazing 4 days this past August. Instruction is great. My instructor was caring, gave positive criticism, taught, reviewed and drilled skills. I am a slow learner. I am an older boater. He showed patience, are and compassion. I encourage my fellow boaters to continue to take instruction. We all need to continue to learn. Instruction provide for all levels from beginner to advanced. Hope to go back next year.”

“I spent the weekend at NOC for the Class II Whitewater kayaking class. NOC's Bryson City campus is an awesome place for the outdoor enthusiast, set along the banks of the Nantahala River. The instruction, river, equipment, facility and accommodations are first class. I can't wait to go back for another class.”
