“What a great knife! New West never disappoints. I've been eyeing this one for a while. I have other bread knives so wasn't sure about adding another one. So glad I did. Of course it is beautiful but it cuts so well! Can't wait to try it on gravlax.”
“There is a reason this is called the "super" bread. Because it's awesome. Yes, of course, breads of all types. But it does a lot more.
I use it to carve too. And for tomatoes forget about it.”
“I am a home bread baker. Unless the weather is uncomfortably hot I typically bake bread every week or two. Including the 9” Superbread I have five bread knives, and I am always looking for a better bread knife. I had hoped the Superbread would be it.
So close but a major disappointment. The Superbread cuts baguettes beautifully. If small loaves are all you cut, buy the Superbread. You probably will be delighted. Crisp crusts are no problem for this knife.
The problem is when cutting into a decent sized boule or miche. The Superbread can’t cut a loaf wider than its blade is long. At least not without hacking at the bread and making a mess. New West has the technology to offer a 12” chef knife. Why do they limit their longest bread knife to 9” and then call it “Super”?
If the Superbread were 12” this would be a six star review. If New West develops a 12” bread knife I will probably purchase it.”
