This is everything I wanted and more. I wanted something in a size I didn't currently have and this is definitely a size I didn't already have. I have some large chef knives, but there are always times when you wish you had something..... bigger. Have had it now for about a week and have used it several times already. It was perfect for carving our prime rib roast, and it will be the one I grab now when processing large roasts of pork and beef for freezing or canning. Very well made, and feels so substantial without feeling overly heavy. The balance is perfect. Some people don't understand how important balance is for not only comfort and ease of use but also safety. I was a little worried that such a long blade would make the knife feel a little blade-heavy, but it's not at all. I mean, it is a large knife, it's not 'lightweight' by any means, but it's much easier to use that I was anticipating. If you are someone who processes large cuts of meat, you want this knife. Trust me. It'll cut your work time in half - easily. My only complaint is about myself - I need to get used to the length when washing it, my muscle memory isn't used to the length so I have hit the tip a few times in the sink.
