2.5" Bird and Trout Huckleberry Reviews

4 Rating 4 Reviews
Purchased the Bird and Trout to complete the set alongside the Outfitter and Glory Folder. Now in-hand, side by side, the Bird and Trout essentially follows the same blade cutting edge profile and length of the Glory Folder. The picture shows specifically how the Bird and Trout blade casts the shadow atop the Glory Folder’s blade. So then with pun I ask what’s the point. When processing birds and trout, knives and hands can get messy. The fixed blade Bird and Trout is simple to wash & clean compared to the Glory Folder which can wedge the mess between the frame lock and gfusion cover. Dangerous toys for big boys should stay sharp, and clean.

I’m still forming my opinion of this knife. I like it. Size is nice for an everyday carry knife. Like the handle. Fits my hand nicely. Out of the box the knife was sharp, but could have been sharper. I haven’t tried to sharpen the knife yet, but hopefully it will sharpen easy and hold an edge.

This was a Christmas gift, recommended by a friend who is an instructor of wilderness skills. The recipient appeared to like it.

Picked up this knife as a gift for my middle son - we've been fishing together for 20 years, and I wanted something suitably impressive as a gift as he continues through college and adulthood. Cue New West and this amazing knife - easily balanced, handles well, perfect size for working on fish or small game, and the sheath is a work of art. If anything, I would want to see a second retention mechanism on the sheath just in case he decides to get acrobatic trying to get to the perfect fishing hole, but otherwise, this is an amazing knife and I know my boy will love it.
