“Thank you for the dental first aid kit. It came with a free package of a freeze fired beef dish. I appreciate the thought behind the gift, but was a little disturbed to receive it.
I have been a vegetarian since 1975 because I do not believe in killing unnecessarily. Since I made that decision on ethical grounds, all the medical and environmental science has shown that eating animals wastes grain, water and land. It causes cancer and heart disease in people (recent study in Harvard's Journal of Internal Medicine). And, of course, it is pretty horrible for the animals.
We live in a diverse world. More and more people are becoming vegetarian, vegan or otherwise reducing their consumption of animal flesh for various reasons.
If you look at my records with your company, you will see that I have been a customer for many years. That won't change. But I don't like to be sent packages of meat. I can't send it back because you will send it to someone else. So I will throw it out. If felt like a hot potato when I opened the box and saw it.
Respectfully, I ask you to consider that many of your customers may have ethical, health, religious and environmental concerns about meat. If you would like to give a gift along with the order, please consider giving something vegan. After all, no one eats just meat. Even the meat eaters who shop with you will have a use for a vegetable preparation, whereas the vegetarians and vegans will have no use for the package with dead animal bodies in it.
Thanks for listening.
