Prior to these purchases I bought samples of most of the other producers and found Mountain House to be the all around better product considering quality, taste, ingredients, easy of use and selection. “Like another review we were surprised that the chicken was as good as it was, would eat it anytime. The potatoes would have been better with just butter seasoning and salt, we did not like the spices in this packet. overall, if I were really hungry, We would both have eaten it all. Overall its a winner, Quality was good, Quantity was good (2 people) .”

“Like the earlier reviewer, I didn't expect much from the chicken; but I was really blown away by the appearance, texture, and flavor of the chicken. It was really good. Not just really good for freeze-dried food; but really good as anything I make myself. The mashed potatoes, on the other hand, were not particularly to our liking, but the texture was good--just didn't care for the spices. The glaze must be a new addition, because I didn't see it with the product I got.”

“I have to say this was well worth the money we spent. I made one pouch for my wife and i after a hard day hiking and there was a lot of food. We then sat around the camp fire having a nice cup of coffee and didn't have that empty feeling like you didn't get enough to eat. So the question is this, would i buy this item again, the answer to that question is a BIG YES!!!”

“When I first open the pouch I was a bit nervous how this would taste. The chicken was like to dried up hockey pucks, and a bags of mashed potato dust. I followed the directions on the pouch and to my surprise this meal was actually delicious. I probably could have eaten both servings myself, but there was enough there to give the full feeling. If you are a big eater, you will probably feel the same way. But in a survival situation portion size must be limited any way. I will say the chicken was perfectly seasoned, and the mashed potatoes were a bit heavy on the garlic but I like garlic so it was good for me. The only thing I didn't like about this meal is that the preparation could be a bit tedious in the great outdoors, or in a survival situation. You have to do the chicken first then remove the chicken and prepare the mashed potatoes in the same water as the chicken was prepared. All in all I am satisfied with my purchased and will buy this again, for a hike in the woods where I have plenty of time to prepare.”
