I have looked a a variety of solar crank type radios and I love this radio. The sound quality of channels is very good and the NOAA weather channels come in clear. I really like the multiple ways that it can be powered: 1) solar panel, 2) internal battery pack, 3) hand crank, 4) using 4 AA batteries or 5) using the optional ac power adapter. Over-all a very nice radio for emergency backup!

I think the radio would better be named; calling it an emergency radio. If it had a transmitter it would be a survival radio. Even if it was only the emergency channel (9) on the CB side . I found it to be practical and fairly easy to operate. The main advantage of this system are the many ways it can be powered. It played as it ways intended to. The weathwe channels were adequate. The national weather servive has always been acurate. The analog dials were a little dated. This I think was to avoid interference. All in all I found it to be quite useful.
