“I’ve had my Nolah mattress for about a month now and it’s great! I can now sleep soundly on my side without numbness, and when I wake up my back doesn’t hurt anymore.
Buying the mattress was easy, I set it up myself and had no problems. The only comment I have here is that the plastic they wrap it in smells horrible and the smell transferred to the mattress. I aired it out and sprayed it with a solution of water, alcohol and fabric softener and that really helped. I haven’t noticed it since the first day I got it.
I did take advantage of the service to have my old mattress removed. They use a third party service but it’s super easy to schedule the appointment. The crew showed up on time and were out in less than five minutes.

“I very much love my new Nolah mattress. It is firm but not too firm. Just the way I like it. I especially like the firm edges. My hope it that the edges will keep their firmness over time. The mattress came in the pretty standard vacuum-packed rolled up way. Extremely heavy though.
It is NOT easy to pick up which leads to one surprise. Since it doesn't need a box spring I bought a nice well built foundation with a lot of slats and a center support at both ends and the middle. The mattress sits on that. The surprise is that I really can't tuck the sheets/covers anywhere except the corners and it isn't easy to do that.
The other surprise is how tall the mattress by itself really is - about 19". I had measured everything and I knew it would be a bit higher than my old mattress box spring combo. I didn't know how much the difference would make. I am 6' tall and I had to buy a two inch stepper stool to get in to bed. And the mattress is above the footboard. (I have a traditional bed with headboard and footboard). This makes it easy to kick things off the end of the bed. But that is what the newer, modern beds are anyway. So I am adjusting.
I am getting very good sleeps now. I wake up refreshed and satisfied with my purchase. My old mattress was top of the line before but I kept it way too long. It is great having a super deluxe, well made, comfy mattress. I would definitely recommend this mattress to anyone. But be sure you understand how tall it will be and get a support of the height that suits you. And, understand the mattress is too heavy for most anyone shy of a gorilla to pick up at even the corners. This weight is part of quality of the mattress and because the mattress is so thick the covers don't pull off as easy as I thought they would.
I recommend having a strong friend help you put in the mattress. I certainly would not plan on moving the bed around by myself. By the way, the "white glove" guys who came and helped assemble my new support and put on the mattress were excellent.”
“Only complaint was the bamboo fitted sheets & flat sheet did not fit very well . They definitely need to be bigger and have deeper pockets! I have recommended this mattress to others! I even discussed it with my back surgeon.”
“The old memory foam mattress was hot and had developed a back-pain inducing dip. One morning I declared, “NO MORE.” Googled “best hotel mattresses,” recalling that almost every hotel mattress we ever slept on was better than our home mattress. Found Nolah listed among the best, and with some important benefits and features we hadn’t known were available in a hotel-quality mattress: shop-at-home convenience; “self assembly,” i.e. mattress arrives in a compressed roll; and different firmness zones for shoulders vs. hips. I studied all our options for days, but Nolah inevitably came out on top for the above constellation of reasons.
As a rule, we are much more influenced by others’ reviews than by in-store shopping, particularly for mattresses, which has always been a very confusing experience for us. Nolah’s reviews sounded solid. The strategically firmer and softer zones made sense to us. The ability to forgo in-store shopping—as well as having big guys lug a giant mattress through our narrow entry and stairs—was very enticing.
Our mattress arrived promptly, and was actually preceded by a couple of nice, big squishy pillows made of shredded memory foam that, to our surprise, we absolutely love—perfect for supporting knees and elbows when side-sleeping. We videoed our mattress unboxing in case anything went wrong. Nothing did, of course, and the mattress took on its full form within minutes. That night we had the most luxuriously comfortable sleep in years.
I appreciate that this request for a review came months after the mattress delivery date. We’ve had plenty of time to be sure of our purchase. We are still very impressed with our Nolah mattress’s comfort and its superiority to the memory foam-type mattresses we’ve had for decades, mainly because they were the only online shopping option at the time. I now sleep cooler, which is a game-changer. I no longer struggle with falling asleep or waking up during the night due to a hot mattress. And I’m able to sleep on my back or sides in comfort, feeling gently yet firmly supported. My husband is also very pleased with our Nolah mattress. Our mattress firmness choice was the middle-of-the-scale one—i.e. the “most popular” firmness level, as I recall. Our old memory foam mattress went on Craigslist, listed “for free,” and was snapped up the very same evening by a bachelor furnishing a guest room. So that part was easy-peasy too.”
