“The Porta-mill is a great little setup for working in remote areas. I am able to transport the pieces into the woods where we are dropping trees and slab them as needed. Had a friend that wanted a fireplace mantle out of a massive red oak tree that fell near his remote camp. I bought my Porta-mill there and we slabbed numerous 6.5 foot long boards from the 18" diameter log and retained the heartwood out a single live-edge side to create his unique mantle. Once it dries out, we'll install it with rock supports from a creek that passes by his camp.”
“This is a great tool that actually works exactly as promised! Assembly is not quick but as long as you methodically follow the directions, it is a fairly straight forward process. I’ve already milled a half-dozen eight foot logs and am thrilled with how easy it is to operate. If you are thinking about getting an Alaskan mill, don’t!!! The PortaMill is far safer and easier to operate!”
“I've got a Norwood PM14 Portamill. It's well made, easy to break down and reassemble, and works surprisingly well. I load it into my boat and take it to remote beaches here in Southeast Alaska to mill drift logs.”
“Assembly was straight forward and not difficult at all, Maybe an hour and a half or so. It looks to be a quality piece of equipment, for the money. I only gave four stars because I haven’t been able to use it. The guide rail was backordered.”
“ve always wanted to own a bandsaw mill but I needed something that was a little more portable than a bandsaw, the PM14 chainsaw mill fit the bill perfectly. It's my 3rd chainsaw mill but now, I don't need to look any further. Portability is the key.”
“The PortaMill is a great product. Easy and safe to use. I have been milling aged, naturally dried Eastern Red Cedar... Makes excellent barn and fence boards.”
