“I have had an impact mill for at least 20 years. I wanted to be able to mill cracked grains for cereal and avoid the huge mess that comes with my old mill. I can’t seem to get a really fine flour from my Harvest mill, though. So I pulled out my trusty Whisper Mill. The picture is what happens when you put too much wheat in the hopper! My Harvest mill is sitting there in the background judging me. Both types of mills are great, but they each have their own strengths. The explosion was my own fault, but the impact mill still makes way more of a mess than the stone mill. That is why I only bring it out every few months and grind a lot of flour to keep in the freezer.”
