“A bookcase with great structure, there are enough storage space and really enjoy the glass panels as well. The whole wood unit looks very sturdy and i imagine using it for a long time.”
“I bought 2 of these.
Things I like about them:
- Bank transfer discount
- Well packaged with styrofoam surrounding all exterior surfaces, and sturdy corrugated cardboard box surrounding that. Up was well indicated.
- They smell really nice ❤️
- They sit side by side well
- Wall anchors: solid eyelet screw mount on back and tough plastic wall piece to thread cable tie through
- Plastic air vents in the upper back to dissipate heat build up.
- supplied shims to level units.
Things that I think could be improved on:
- Front of unit not well indicated on box for an English speaker. We opened the box and had to rotate the unit in a tight space to face away from the wall from where delivery put it.
- Doors on both units not symmetrical hung, handles on one had a misaligned of 3mm, the other less obvious. One door doesn’t close quite right on one unit with the upper magnet unable to catch. The other unit has 6.5mm gap between doors (the other 1.5-2mm). So noticeable flaws with both units.
- The shelves are a frame and thinner panel set in the middle, meaning the shelves give an illusion of reasonable thickness but the centre is quite thin. I noticed some buckling starting on a couple of my shelves with the weight of books so had to rearrange the heaviest books to the edges and bring forward some books to sit on the frame front and push back other books to sit on the frame back to better distribute the weight. This isn’t good for a bookcase to have shelving not up to carrying the weight of books without getting bowed. It would be far better to have gone with full thickness wood right across without cheating with a panel in the middle. But so far, a number of weeks later and nothing has collapsed or bowed worse. Sides of the cabinet are a similar construction to reduce unit weight; this doesn’t appear to be an issue at this time.
Things that are are just of interest:
- There are two rows of grooves on the top. Perhaps to be used to secure displays items on top?? Not sure what purpose. But if you get a view from above like we do since the bookcases sit next to the stairs, it looks a little odd.
- The piecing of wood is odd. Some of the drawer fronts are a single piece of wood, others are pieced together. Since the general tone is reasonably even, it’s not particularly aesthetically challenging - just, like other flaws, not fine furniture detailing. BTW , general tone of the oak is lovely, pale and almost a blush hue in places.
Being real wood with grain is the big selling point of this furniture. So definitely leaps and bounds better than particle board furniture, but this isn’t fine furniture in the flaws I’ve noted above, but that’s okay because it is reasonably priced for what it is. It’s pleasant looking, and seems basically robust, but not mega solid. It’s obviously been engineered to reduce the weight of the piece for shipping and to efficiently make use of wood in its glue ups of boards. It is the nicest furniture I could afford that fulfils the criteria I needed it too. So by in large I am happy with the units even though there are some niggles. And the finishing product smelling naturally wonderful sweetens the deal.”
“Much heavier than anticipated and perfect fit for my flat. Smoothy drawers with wooden runner and double doors are sturdy. Recommend this bookcase cabinet.”
