A good value mature village Cavey wine despite not being an appellation controlee for its cost at 16 euros and I had 4 cases. It has a very pleasant smooth flavour with good aftertaste, a good value middle brand at this cost. However, I was most surprised to return online to find it presented at 20 euros per bottle. Sorry, but at this cost it was well overpriced, suddenly being only 2 euros cheaper than the ever-outstanding House of Louis Latour which as a full appellation controlee surpasses the best of each year's grape leaving the Cavee way over-priced for its lesser vintage flavour. Any good Macon-Lugny should ideally be laid up for 4 years, so the Cavee at a three-year vintage lacks the fuller mature depth of flavour. Bottle for bottle, you would do better to stick with the Macon Village if 16 euros is your desired price range. Also beware, the 2022 will eventually be out around autumn which will make my comments even more valid, lacking the deeper fully mature rich flavour of this much respected Macon-Lugny region achieved by the value of Louis Latour excel and worth the small extra cost. Enjoy !
