The back of the shoe folds down and has a much more substantial material to last and allow for slides when wanted. Soles are solid for walks across a variety of terrain. “My second pair which was determined by how well I liked the fit and looks of the light colored (natural and poi?) pair. Possibly the best fit I have experienced in a sneaker type shoe. Plus they look damn good and are a little different from most. Can’t comment on how well they will hold up to wear since I have not had the first pair for a year yet.
