“These are extremely comfortable, nice looking and made well. The versatility of this slipper is second to none.
I have always worn Ugg slippers that are fully shearling lined and have worked well over the years. With the change in daily routine due to Covid 19 I wanted something a little more functional for indoors and quick outdoor needs. I have 6 pairs of Olukai Flip Flops and since it’s cold where I live I thought I would try the Olukai slippers for my Covid world requirement.
After a week of wearing them I noticed a strong odor when I would take them off. At first I thought it was my 8 year old sons feet because he is constantly moving and smells like an active boy most of the time.
I came to realize it was the insole of my Olukai slippers. Now, I do not generally have smelly feet and have never had issues with my Uggs slippers smelling. I have washed the insoles and still had the same problem. They have an unusual smell and since they appear to be wool I am wondering is the moisture is making the wool smell or if it’s the material underneath.
I really love the slippers but cannot deal with this issue of odor. Sad too because I bout 3 other pairs as Christmas gifts and I will be a bit embarrassed to give these out if this is a persistent issue.
I am going to try and put cedar shoe trees in them at night and when I am not wearing them to see if that helps. I have over 60 pairs of dress shoes and have trees for all of them. Does not seem like something I should have to do with slippers but I like them well enough to try it.”
