“They're pretty sandals.
And you're pretty much buying them because they're pretty.. With that, they're also very comfortable sandals. This is maybe my 4th pair I've gotten and I have to give them that, these guys make some very comfortable flip-flops. They conform to your feet and offer some of the best arch support I've ever found in a sandal. I wear my sandals everywhere I go and have found the same flaw in each pair I've owned. The leather used on the footpad of the sandal is thin, too thin, and tends to wear out much faster than any other part of the sandal.
If you're using them every day they can wear out in about 8 months to a year, and if you're really rough on them (hiking, or even just walking for miles {yeah, they're that comfortable}) then you can possibly wear through them in 6 months.. The attached photo is of one of their sandals I have been intermittently wearing for about 10 months now. You can see where they have worn through and just how thin the leather they use is. (also note the leather is beginning to dry out and crack not because of a manufacturing defect but because they have become my beater/yard sandals and I just leave them laying around wherever, even in the sun. Don't do this with a new pair, sun and leather don't do well together..). If they only fixed this one issue then I think these sandals could become one of the best sandals out there. Because of this I give them somewhere between 3-4 stars and hope they fix this issue over the next few years or before I need to buy another pair..
So for their price its a tough recommendation knowing this flaw, but if you can find them on sale for under $70 then to me they're worth it (clearly because I just bought another pair). But then again, my Tevas are about 5 years old, still look brand new, and I've used them extensively over those last 5 years for my hiking, backpacking, spearfishing trips..”
“Best flip flop ever. Just bought my second pair, and a pair for my daughter. My only complaint is why doesn't Olukai offer a wider width? Many wearers of these shoes have a bit wider foot and would love to have the option of a wider option.”
