"Amsterdam" Heated Mittens 2.0 Reviews

4 Rating 24 Reviews
My wife purchased vests and gloves (mittens) for a Norwegian Northern Lights cruise. We were out in subzero temperatures for a few hours and the vests did really well. At those temperatures the gloves (mittens) were able to keep hands from freezing but not really warm. Back home in Utah where winters sports are a great activity, I used my gloves skiing for about 40+ days and on days around 32 degrees and above the gloves (mittens) did really well. Below freezing, they were able to keep my fingers from going numb and that was a plus. However, one of the gloves (mittens) gave out and stopped working. I wrote a review and Ororo picked up on it without me requesting a replacement they wrote me and offered to make it right. I was totally impressed! They really meant it. In less than a week I had a new pair of upgraded mittens on the way and I’m excited to give them a try. Ororo is a class act outfit. They could have just overlooked my review and said you win some and lose some. But they didn’t go down the easy path or run away from standing behind their products. I’m grateful. I’m amazed. And, I’m giving the best review I can! Why the four stars you ask? Their response was five stars for sure. But, I expect their products to work in the real world. Not using them to drive a car, walk the dog, but on true outdoor winter activities like skiing (my activity), sledding, building a snowman, etc. Gloves or mittens this expensive should keep your hands dry and warm (not hot). They should take a pounding (wear well), mine were already ripping at the thumbs. I hope the second generation glove (ok, mittens), is more robust and demonstrates an advancement in their products. Yes, I’m wordy but I want to paint a picture of fairness, gratitude and amazement about Ororo. They are a great place to buy products because they stand behind them.

I would recommend for the quality of the product, but not for the heating performance.

The mittens are great. Warm even when the heat is not turned on. Only issue I have is the wrist strap on the left glove frayed and came off by the 4th day I wore the mittens.

I had to send back one pair because both my wife and I found our respective gloves too big. So we switched my large to a small for her, and I took her medium. A few stumbles at the beginning, but the exchange process turned out to be easy and efficient, and the new pair arrived in a very timely manner. I should say that I never give the top review on anything because nothing is perfect, so consider my reviews really good. Also - while I've given MY top review on heating performance, I haven't really tested that under the conditions I really need to gloves for - skiing. I will do so over the next week.

Good controls inc battery level display. Use for snow skiing. In extreme conditions the thumbs could use more heat. Discovered tightening the wrist straps helped keep the heat where it's needed.

These mittens are exactly what I need to keep my fingers nice and warm while I am outside enjoying a winter snowshoe or downhill skiing!

My rating could have been higher - except the left hand zipper holding the battery broke after 4 uses. It’s a significant issue because it holds the battery from falling out while skiing.I am in contact with Ororo warranty to see what solutions are available. Currently Ororo warranty does not cover zippers.

I did an unboxing and YouTube review of the Ororo Heated Mittens. https://youtu.be/bnlTjZD8Ako Overall, I'm happy with the mittens and it's been a game changer for me as I take the bus during the winter months when it's -20C to -30C in Winnipeg.
