“The lights, because of being thin 25mm high and the spring clips 38mm were purchased to be installed in 75mm Stratco Cooldeck giving space above the light for air.
However the down side is, and it wasn’t mentioned until I received them and the instructions for fitting that the driver cannot be installed in the Cooldeck! It should be installed above the insulation.
However with Cooldeck it is impossible to do so. I tested the lamp over a long period and found that the driver doesn’t get hot, but the rear of the downlight does.
It would be better if cooling fins were attached during manufacturing.
As I am fitting the downlight 300mm from the edge, I will drill a 45mm hole from the side to the hole for the down light and fit the driver in there.
Allowing for the space above the downlight and the 45mm hole should do the trick to spread the heat without damaging the Cooldeck.”
