I’ve used the jacket twice, and it’s amazingly warm. I rode with an undergarment and jacket on both occasions The vents in combination with the front zipper provide a wide range of ventilation options, some of the best air through put I’ve ever experienced. This allowed me to cool-off after warming up. The jacket is well made, am looking forward to using it more. I look forward to days I can wear it.

This is the only cycling jacket I own and I do not anticipate needing another. Will get me through the Chicago winter no problem. I'm 6'2, 180lbs, thin athletic build: the Medium fits me very well (I prefer a close fit). No complaints. A very thoughtfully and carefully crafted jacket.

You really have to layer up if it gets really cold but no wind got through and it got rid of the sweat fairly well.

Haven’t had a chance to test in frigid conditions yet, but I did test it in 36 degrees Fahrenheit, paired with the recommended Pactimo merino base layer, and had to open the vents in the front of the jacket and zip the collar down a few inches to cool off. I’m borderline (or maybe even full-on) clydesdale at 5’8” and 200 lbs. I exchanged an XXL for a XXXL with went very smoothly (thanks, Pactimo!), but I wonder how many people will never be able to enjoy this fine piece of gear simply because they can’t find a large-enough size.

I have two Vertex WX-D jackets. They work remarkably well. I have ridden between 10F and 50F with them, requiring only a modification of base layers. On the upper temp end, use a lightweight LS base layer (Pactimo wool works well); on the low end use a heavier weight wool base layer (I use 260 IceBreaker). Combined with matching bibs, you are good to go. Now, if I could just manage my hand and feet temps as easily… Be forewarned, this jacket is outstanding while MOVING. It relies on the body's heat production. Stop for long and you will freeze. I typically bring an insulated vest for sub-freezing rides (think flat tire).

So far a fantastic jacket that pairs well with the wool base layer and Alpine Thermal Jersey.
