“Although the PerfectFit Dog Harness is great when new, it doesn't last the test of time, as the fabric around the clapes tends to decay resulting in the harness failing. I tend to get through a new complete harness in 12-18 months which is disappointing. I get the feeling the harnesses aren't for active dogs that get out and about everyday”
We are sorry to hear this, Neil. We do have customers who have had their harnesses for 15/20 years+ Here are some tips, which you might find useful:
- Ensure that your dog is supervised at all times whilst wearing the harness
- Keep an eye out for anything that could be rubbing on that area whilst in storage
- Keep an eye out for anything that could be rubbing on that area whilst your dog is wearing the harness (for example, we have had dogs who like to rub up against walls) or in storage.
- Brush off any dirt or grit from the harness after every use
- Place the harness in a washbag in the washing machine and washing on a cool wash
