The Best Awesomest Controler for Android Phone's

Even though the android model came out later than the iphone model, it feels like using a controller for gaming like any other console. It's very reminiscent of the PSP and what it could've been

My hubby liked it so much on his android I’m actually ordering a iPhone one now for myself

1st of all, what a world we live in where I can play AAA/my favorite games on my "phone". That said, I put some considerable mileage on this piece of hardware in the last month so I feel qualified to provide an honest review from an Android user. Hardware: 3/5 The Backbone One performs well. Physically, it is lightweight, comfortable and acknowledges my every button click. However my experience is that the joysticks lack the sensitivity to confidently play FPSs. My reticle either doesn't move or leaps considerably, no amount of adjustments of in-game controller sensitivity improved this problem. Smoother and more receptive tracking of joystick movement is necessary. Also, I wish the back and menu button were more reachable/approachable but I understand the dilemma. Software: 4/5 The ease of use of the Backbone app is refreshing. Its accessible, simple and tasteful in it's design. In my experience most apps built to service hardware/software are particularly lackluster. That is not the case here. I will say, I subbed to the Xbox cloud streaming service because Backbone confirmed I could play Sable on Microsoft's service. Turns out Xbox does not and yet it still claims that Xbox has Sable in it's cloud gaming service. I've yet to play the game I bought this device for but that hasn't stopped me from playing other games I've enjoyed. Experience: 4/5 I have the OnePlus 9 Pro and with the Backbone One and Xbox cloud streaming, my gaming genres of choice ranged from: 4x(Stellaris, Frostpunk, Crusader Kings 3), FPS Survival (DayZ, The Long Dark, No Man's Sky), RPG (Morrowind, Pillars of Eternity), FPS (Call of Duty 1). I've put the most time in No Man's Sky, DayZ and Stellaris. I found a better gaming experience with games that did not rely on reaction and accurate usage of the joysticks which made DayZ particularly frustrating. Despite this I have enough my time with No Man's Sky the most as it's need for accuracy is forgivable. Overall: 4/5 I endorse and recommend this product to the casual gamer the most. It's been fun to get back into gaming in a way that is accessible, cost effective and enjoyable! Great job to the Backbone team on their product and service. Thanks from coming to my TED talk. *** There is something notable that happens frequently that I believe is a need to know. More of a critique of Xbox cloud gaming I think but since you can't have one without the other... While playing a game overtime, almost like clockwork, the graphics sort of... melt into almost like a fingerprint pattern that takes up a large portion or the entire screen and considerably obstructs gameplay. I play around it by quickly moving the screen through new graphics (turning you characters POV, popup menus, etc.). Again, I find this falls within the acceptable range for myself as I am doing all of this gaming on a handheld device not built for this purpose. Anywho, that's all I've got.

The Backbone One is a really nice controller for my Android phone. I've played Retroarch games with it and Steam Play with it not missing a beat. Feels good to hold and is pretty light. It is a little cumbersome to get the phone in/out of the controller but isn't a huge issue. While my phone didn't have this concern (a Galaxy S9), a friend with a newer Pixel phone had a little difficulty with the camera bump. Your mileage may vary depending on the camera but it looks like they did a decent job trying to support many phones. I had no interest in the Backbone Android app though and doesn't seem to be required, with just losing the functionality of two of the buttons by not having it (a screenshot button and a button to open the app). Looking forward to using it on future long-distance flights!

I loved the product. Worked great with my Motorola phone.

The joysticks are stiff. Instead of analog input, they feel like either 0 or 100.
