Hey Ruth, MuckStop and GoClear are both bacterial supplements and they work by introducing beneficial bacteria into your pond to help reduce sludge and improve water clarity and health. The rate at which the bacteria colonies develop inside the pond varies widely depending on the water chemistry that you are starting out with. Differences in nitrogen, KH/GH, and water temperature have wide ranging effects on how quickly the bacterial colonies will take to get established. Additionally, if you have UV lights in your pond's filtration system, it's a good idea to turn them off for a few days following treatment of your pond with any type of bacterial supplement. Due to the nature of how these products work, they are not likely to provide overnight results, but will do a great job in helping to maintain the health and clarity of your pond. It's normal that it will take time for the bacterial loads to grow, before they are able to make a visual difference. If you would like to discuss further, we would be happy to do so.
