You manage what you measure, this product allows you to measure what normal monthly water intake to boiler is, so you can tell when something is wrong. It also alows you to not have to refil at Low Water Cutoff, but anywhere in gallon increments of 1, 2, 3, 4, 5. Its also a million times quieter than Older Tech when calling for water..... “We use automatic water feeders as a safety device only; never a convenience item. Ideally, once installed, the water feeder should never work. If you are continually adding water to your steam system, you most likely have a leak which must be repaired. Fresh water contains a high concentration of Oxygen which will slowly rot away and destroy the cast iron in a boiler. We use the VXT series of water feeders, exclusively, because of the Gallons Used read-out feature. At the end of every heating season, we like to see the digital display reading '000'. That way, we know the system is leak-free and the introduction of fresh water is kept to a minimum. A nice, dependable, easy to install unit. It's the only part we buy that we hope never works!”
