Fast shipping. Ended up installing on the return duct (instructions said it was OK) working well so far in auto mode. Keeps my 1800 Sq ft home at 40% no problem.

Replaced a Honeywell which had a horrible design (the solenoid was a part of a brass valve, which would clog up every season...about $50), and finally said the hell with it.I thought this would be plug and play since they are both fan-powered, but like others have said... Aprilaire decided to be difficult and made the transformer external. Yes, you do need it even if you have power from the main furnace board (it won't work without it - I tried). Got the manual version as I control it with a Honeywell IAQ.One note about the warranty - this will be void if you install it yourself. However, at about $250-300 for the humidifier, the installation cost alone will be just as much or more than the cost of the unit. Also, you can likely get parts as well. Save the money and just do it yourself (if you're capable). There's no electronics that I can see, so it should be pretty reliable and less likely to fail anyway.

Installed on return duct with hot water due to lack of space on the supply side. Solved my dry house and buckling floors issue within a week.
