Aprilaire Automatic Humidifier Reviews

Base on such a simple design it is so overpriced but there is little competition. Design has change in 10 years.

When installed correctly, the unit preforms the way it is described and only uses a few gallons of water each day. (Like flushing your toilet an extra time each day). Humidifiers are designed to keep the humidity at around 40-45% max, any higher, and you run the risk of mold. Very pleased. Had the unit installed for 18 months now.

Put humidity in our home. Appears to work good.

Bought this to replace a ten year old Trane model that looks identical. And it is with one minor difference that took me a while to figure out. The transformer on the old one was built in. The new one is external. Otherwise the new one snapped into place in the old bracket perfectly. And it works beautifully. A smidge noisy. But nothing too bothersome I do believe several brands are made by the same company

This was far from a straightforward installation. The unit itself was exactly what we needed but an angled box needed to be created from sheet metal to join it with the furnace so the unit would sit level. The wiring was pretty straightforward and is working well with the ecobee thermostat. Spend the extra $ for the automatic control unit especially if like me you leave the blower run constantly. The model 700 will kick on and off even without the call for heat.

We needed to replace our whole house humidifier. It was an easy installation. We chose Aprilaire because that is what we were replacing, and we found it to be a very reliable product. We need humidity in the house during the winter. It feels better already: No more dry skin and static.

As for the unit, awesome. Our house is significantly more comfortable. The install was a lot more work than I thought. I put our humidistat up by our thermostat instead of on the return. Running the wiring was a little bit of a pain. If your handy its doable. If not, you may be better off hiring someone.

Good product and seems to be doing its job. Installation was fairly easy, but I had to install the AprilAire on my supply return due to having a downflow furnace in our garage. I went ahead and relocated where my filter was between the AprilAire and the control to make sure the control sensor would get the best humidity readings. Overall the installation went well and the system is functioning. I purchased the installation kit which I believe is a bit overpriced for what was included. I priced out what is included and could have purchased things separately for probably half the price, but I wanted to make sure I had everything AprilAire required.
