Installed this unit in the air handler of my A/C system. Whole house now consistently at 45% humidity. However, Nest Thermostat control was not compatible. Works very well with the provided humidistat.

Great product, fairly easy to install. It took me about 5 hrs including two trips to HD for parts. Save your time and headaches, unless you have the parts laying around, you will spend the same amount and maybe more if you don’t purchase the install kit. I spent about the same, maybe 10% more purchasing separate parts. The only advantage I have is that my supply line is copper. If they would have an installation kit with 10ft of copper supply line I would have purchased. But knowing what I know now, I would have just purchased the kit. It’s early in the season so I have yet to realize the full comfort benefits of the system, but I’ve had this system in other homes and it’s always been much more comfortable with AprilAire. This was the first time I installed by myself, with help from my oldest son and wife !!!!

I needed to replace an older model and the fit was perfect

Very glad that I spent a little extra and got the better model that automatically adjusts the humidity. My old one still worked fine, but started making a rattling sound from the fan. Was able to install the new one in the same spot as the old one. The only difference was that I had to modify the area where the humidistat was installed, and there were some extra wires and a transformer to install. New one runs quiet as a mouse.

I really like this product. I have one in my house and have installed a few in other locations. What separates it from other powered humidifiers is that you can just set it and walk away. The manual model requires the homeowner to regularly adjust it to truly work properly. As far as being done as a DIY I'm not sure. It does have a degree of difficulty to wire. I know my way around HVAC equipment and electricity so i might not be the best to ask for that one. Overall.... buy it. do it.

Installation is medium difficult in my opinion. The unit functions exactly as advertised and does a great job! Reduced water usage by tweaking the needle valve. My wife thinks I'm imagining things, but it's effective.
