Aprilaire Automatic Humidifier Reviews

4.7 Rating 147 Reviews
Aprilaire humidifier installed on supply side of ductwork uses outdoor air temp sensor to automatically set humidifier output. No more daily resetting humidistat as outdoor air temperature changes.

Moderate installation difficulty but worth it. Instructions are clear, though solenoid transformer integration could be better.

PlumbingYou will need 1/4" OD copper tubing. It will connect to cold water if you have your humidifier on the supply side (Warm), but they tell you to connect it to hot water if the humidifier is on the return side. The saddle valve provided works for most installs, but I ended up using fittings to mount it directly. There will be a small but constant stream of water coming out. make sure you have adequate drainage.1/2" tubing will be required.MountingYou will need sheet metal snips or some sort of drill and saw to cut an opening in your ductwork. The automatic humidistat needs to be mounted 6" upstream of the humidifier, and is not intended to be wall mounted.120V ElectricalYou will need 2 open outlets near by. One for the Humidifier itself and one for a transformer that you will have to wire in.Low VoltageThe instructions are simple enough. Just make sure that the green wire from the thermostat, goes through the humidistat, and is no longer connected directly to the furnace.

Great unit and easy to install but good to be aware of a few extra as that couldBe needed. 1. Is the install location of your furnace on the Hot side or the Cold Return side? Mine was on the Cold Return. 2. Do you have a Hot water line to connect to? 3. Do you have all of the connections needed to connect the water line? I needed to buy a sharkbite half inch connector with a quarter inch compression. 4. Do you have extra quarter inch compression fittings incase needed? When installing, one cracked and luckily I had an extra.
