I used this product with an electric hot water heater and it has worked well. One of the features that I really like is the built-in unions. That way, if...

Installation easy. However, out of the 100 or so threaded fittings in the system I just put in, all 3 of the female threads on the unions leaked/blew out the PTFE paste. Being an engineer, I used calipers on the minor diameter of the threads, and they were .015 larger than spec for NPT. In other words, they may have cut the threads with a worn tap. I finally got them to seal with 4 wraps of thread tape AND Rectorseal paste. Otherwise, the valve works fine I would recommend, but beware.

With the new lead law in effect most manufactures are clearly marking their Products on the castings and explaining the markings on their websites. This makes complying to this new law not to difficult, you just have to spend a little extra time to make sure the products meet the new code. Honeywell however has made this exceedingly difficult with this product as they just marked the box lead Free and not the body of the valve. The body of the old valve and the body of the new valve appear identical. I called Honeywell to inquire about the markings and how I could document that the valve that I had purchased met the new lead law. The person on the phone assured me that the valve met the new code, So I said to him, Should I just tell the local inspectors that the guy on the phone said it was ok. Needless to say he was not amused and neither was I as he was evading the obvious. After this exchange the man's advice was, If I am not satisfied by the product than maybe I should try another manufacturer. This item was an intragal part of a larger installation that could not be performed until this issue was worked out, it caused unneeded costly delays. To avoid this and other issues in the future I think I will take the mans advice.

It was easy to install, aside from re-doing the pipes to connect them. More importantly, it substantially increased the amount of hot water. Before using the device, from the 50 gallon water heater, it would last one full shower and half of another one. Using the device, it increased the amount of hot water to full three showers. Amazing results.

I ordered an expansion tank & a mixing valve kit, but I end up returning the mixing valve and replacing it with just the missing valve. I Received the merchandise in no time, better than what I expected. When I called to request an MRA for the mixing valve kit, I was taken care of immediately. They emailed me the shipping label (I paid for the return) when I was still on the phone with customer service, and placing the order for just the mixing valve. EXCELLENT SERVICE!
