“Installation easy. However, out of the 100 or so threaded fittings in the system I just put in, all 3 of the female threads on the unions leaked/blew out the PTFE paste. Being an engineer, I used calipers on the minor diameter of the threads, and they were .015 larger than spec for NPT. In other words, they may have cut the threads with a worn tap. I finally got them to seal with 4 wraps of thread tape AND Rectorseal paste. Otherwise, the valve works fine I would recommend, but beware.”
“We added the same valve for our water heater after installing an outdoor boiler and WH sidearm about 2015, the actuating pin from the wax capsule was stuck resulting in cool hot water and couldn't be purchased alone. Trying a rebuild kit didn't fix it, but installing the relevant part from this new unit did, and was easier than redoing all the associated plumbing for a new valve.”
“Perfect mixing valve if you like your water hot (up to about 140 degrees F), for dish and laundry washer and very hot shower. Certainly the valve will mix much cooler, but for me it is very nice that it will allow mixing much hotter.”
“I do not have hard or problem water, and yet I seem to replace these valves every two years. It is easy to replace, but who needs to be dropping a hundred bucks on a mixing valve every other year.”
