I have a solar system preheating my water heater so the water heater sometimes puts out scalding hot water on very sunny days. I installed the mixing valve to prevent this very hot water from reaching the shower and other hot water faucets. It does work reasonably well most of the time, but when you first turn on the faucets you get cool water which quickly turns too hot and then tapers off. It isn't clear to me why this happens. My guess is that that valve does not react quickly enough to changes in the hot water reaching the valve. This Resideo valve replaced a brand new, equivalent Honeywell valve that didn't adjust the temperature at all.

I use the valve for controlling the water temperature entering the house from the hot water heater. The temp range is great for my application.

The original valve I installed about 15 years ago failed and the Domestic Hot Water from the (heating) Boiler output was about 160°F which is a setup for a very serious (skin) burn. Fortunately the same (Honeywell) valve is still available. Replacement was simple, mounting dimensions were the same so no Piping changes were necessary. Shower is not very SAFE & comfortable!

Works, solves the problem. The old one lasted about 17 years. Be sure you get the correct size for an easy replacement. Was sent properly as ordered.

Good Quality at a good price. I recommend the 120-140 degree unit. I like my shower hot!
