“I like Moen products - i have never been disappointed with either their products or service. They avoid using plastic (ABS) in critical parts (see below re. issues with Insinkerator). The components like the sink stopper have a good quality heft to them and the unit itself is sleek and fits well under my sink. It was really easy to install except locking the two rings together ( which was due to me being weak not the product) the instructions were well-written and clear with little details ---like tips a plumber might know but a homeowner might not. Love it! heres a tip they dont give ya-- if you cant balance push and lock the unit to the sink ring use a car jack. i put a jack under the unit, cranked it up until it was snug and then it was super easy to lock the two together. Hopefully, a moron wont read this and jack his sink out of the counter....I dont find it terribly noisy- for pete's sake people it is a garbage disposal!! Apparently, a few folks are UNAWARE garbage disposals grind screech whir growl chew and etc depending on what's put in it. And, heaven forfend, i have witnessed many a teaspoon fly out of them. MY advice? Do not run it in the bedroom while sleeping.I only have one complaint; if you mfgs. expect a homeowner to to install this in the least frustrating manner possible so that we wont return the damn thing why why why dont you INCLUDE the plumbers putty???? It's not like we all have it laying around. grrr.BTW, i initially purchased an insinkerator because it was highly rated and half the price of the Moen---mistake. I returned the insinkerator because when i opened the box every part they could plasticize- they had! In point of fact, the collar that fits immediately under the sink (which the connector ring is a part of) was already broken when i got it--it was made out of ABS. So it just goes to show that the better value is the Moen.”
“Yes, it clicks on starting and it's a little loud, but it also chews up everything without hesitation and very quickly. Installing this thing was a nightmare, but most of the problems were with the old steel ring that was already on the sink. I figured out too late my butt crack was not properly revealed, thus my skills as a plumber were limited.”
“I've had good experiences uniformly with the Moen brand and am happy to see they now manufacture garbage disposals. Am hoping I will be happy with the life of this unit and I realize NO disposal lasts forever. Unit is quiet and was easy to install. Note, it comes with a typical grounded AC plug but can be hardwired. My one suggestion to MOEN would be to have a way to insert a hex wrench in the bottom of the unit should the unit become jammed as they all eventually do. Should this happen with this unit, one needs to free the unit from the "feed end" with a disposal wrench or some other device you 'rig' up like a long screwdriver.”
