I like the extra space under my sink, I can actually fit under there to tighten the faucet, but I have to admit that I reallymiss my old InSinkErator. The InSinkErator was quieter and a little more powerful. The Moen works well, but it reallyhas a bit of a growl to it.If you need the extra space under the sink, the Moen is probably the way to go, but if space isn't a problem, I would recommend getting an InSinkErator instead.

Good product. I wish the noise from the motor is less. But I am happy as is.

Good slim garbage disposal. Noisy or it would be a five star.

I installed this in a new installation and it works well. I also tried the 1/2 HP (x version with soundproofing) and the 3/4 HP disposals from Moen and found that these are very similar in installation and performance minus the sound proofing. Here are my thoughts:+Size wise this is a wide, but not very deep disposal. The 13 inch estimate is about right from the bottom of the sink. Shorter than others I have used or installed and significantly less thick than the ones with soundproofing. Standard sized, in my experience.+I like that this has the same connection to the sink as Insinkerator brand. I wish all of them had a standard connection. It is very easy to get on and off.+This grinds really well! The opening where the food is ground is also really big so you can get very large chunks of stuff in there with no worries. Everything has worked really well for me so far.-Price is higher than most 1/2 HP disposals. Perhaps the magnetic motor really will last forever and it will be worth it.-It has a warranty for 3 years with limitations on in home fixes per the box, which is less than most of the brands I've seen, like other Moen, Waste King and Insinkerator.Overall, I'm happy with this. It works well, which I would expect at this price point. It works as expected.

This GXP50C GX Pro Series 1/2HP Garbage Disposer from Moen has a slim chassis for small, tight, undersink cabinets. If you are replacing an existing disposer, this works on a standard, 3-bolt mount and installation is very easy. Depending upon whether you have a dishwasher, you may need to buy a dishwasher kit. Otherwise you likely won't need anything else. Even if you've never installed a disposer before, if you can physically get on your hands and knees and on your back under the sink, you can do this. I recommend watching a few YouTube videos on disposer installation. This comes with the power cord installed and a plug on the end. If you're lucky enough to have an outlet under the sink for this purpose, all you'll have to do it plug it in. If not, you'll need to do a hard wire installation. Again, you can watch YouTube videos or if you are nervous about simple electrical work, you can have it done by a pro.One thing I like about this disposer is its light weight - just under 8 pounds. Because of that, it doesn't require much arm strength to lift it and rotate it into place on the mount. I'm an older woman and I noticed it was much lighter and easier to manage. The light weight and slim chassis comes at a cost, though. Because there is not much soundproofing, this disposer is noisy. Soundproof cases are what make some disposers very quiet and also very bulky. Expect this one to be pretty darn noisy when in use. That doesn't particularly bother me but I also don't have sleeping babies or a sensitivity to loud sounds. It does work very well. It seems to grind everything quickly and easily. I don't grind bones, though. The rubber splash guard, which I didn't use because I just retained my old one from the disposer I replaced, and the drain plug seem a little cheap. The splash guard is less flexible than my old one - maybe to insulate sound better? My advice is to buy this disposer if you really need more space under your counter or your pumbing pipes just don't allow for a bulkier disposer. Otherwise, Moen makes other 1/2HP disposers at close to the same price that are significantly quieter.

We Recently purchased a new home and many items were builders grade, we have been upgrading things along the way. So when the opportunity to test out this Moen disposal came up I jumped on it.What's in the boxThis disposal comes with everything you needed for basic replacement installation......................................................................................................................................If you already have a Moen, or InSinkErator disposal, this one is a direct fit.You can simply disconnect the waste line and unplug the power cord, (disconnect the dishwasher waste plumbing, if it's connected), and twist the disposal off.At this point you have a choice to make.Use the included Moen sink fittings, or leave the old fittings in place.I really liked the appearance of the brushed and polished stainless trim on the Moen sink drain, so I opted to swap.If you choose the same, ***************you will need some plumbers putty ***************(sold separately).******************Loosen the 3 bolts from the clamp (a large wide flat head screw driver will do the trick) (this clam is under the sink)Simply pop off the retaining ring from the bottom of the mounting hardwareSlip the clamp off the bottomPull the trim out of the top of the sinkClean up the flange in the sinkNow reverse the steps with the shiny new Moen trimAttach the outlet drain (2 screws, use the same screw driver as above)roll up a 6 inch long rope of plumbers putty, and place that rope on the sink flange. make sure it over laps a bit on the ends (this is your sink water seal, a failure here gets you a very wet cabinet)place the trim ring in the sink flange (press it down in to the plumbers putty)slide the clamps on from the bottom, and replace the keeper ringtighten the three bolts in the clamp (this will squeeze the trim ring down tightly in to the plumbers putty, it will look like a bit of a mess. But a quick scrape with remove the excess, and you will know you have a nice even ribbon of putty, creating a perfect seal)Now you can twist the new disposal in position (you may need some extra hands here, I held everything my self, but it is a bit tricky. You do not want the trim ring twisting in the sink . So hold the clamp tightly when you twist the disposal on to it.)Re attach the plumbing, and plug in the power ( my dishwasher is plumbed in to the other side of my sink, so I just left the factory cap in my new disposal, no need to put any plumbing on there for me. You situation could be different, but reverse your removal process, and you will be fine)Congratulations you are all set. This is about a 15 minute job if you have the screw driver and plumbers putty, and your sink cabinet is cleared out. (Disconnecting the waste plumbing will be messy. There is water in there. You will spill it. A towel or bucket is your friend for this mess. (Maybe both)I like this disposal. It is smoother and more powerful than the 1/3 hp insinkerator it replaced. The trim is more attractive. And the warranty is better. Moen (3 year in home) Insinkerator (1 year parts)The Moen is a bit loud. I suspect that is related to its thin design, and powerful motor. I chose the pro version for its slim profile. My sink cabinet is on the small side. I thought this would improve storage space.I've had a waste king in the past that was much quieter. But it was a massive beast. Nothing is going under the sink with that Badboy down there. But then, I don't recreationally run my disposal. It's usually for a few seconds and off. So slim profile and a bit more noise was a fair trade off for me.

easy to install, its Moen, well dcoumented, solid parts...this unit is quite compact..... with compactness comes a lot of noise. After installing a whisper quiet Moen Disposal, I would really noticed the noise of this one. if you have the space, and noise is an issue, I suggest the Moen noise insulated disposals...Works well....
