1/3 HP Garbage Disposal GX PRO Series Lite Series Reviews

4.7 Rating 160 Reviews
This Moen 1/3 hp garbage disposal is a good choice for small households. For larger households, I would recommend the Moen 3/4 hp. Installation is easy if you have done one before. If not, hire a plumber. Overall, it’s a decent disposal.

I installed this unit in a preformed sink, not a metal one. The drain cap was too short to span the thick walls of my preformed sink, and so I installed it without the stabilizing ring. It has held up well but beware of the thickness of the sink.

My Insink Badge 1 was 20 years old and had stopped working a few years ago but since then it was rusted badly that water was draining slowly. After researching online, it looked like Waste King 111 was the best corrosion-proof but I only wanted to buy locally. Found Moen, and the dimensions were similar except it was a bit longer so I cut the elbow by 1 inch to fit. It works good for now. I'll wait 10 years to check corrosion.

The downside to this disposal is it has to be plugged into a switch connected to an on/off wall switch. It isn’t hard-wired like the other disposals I have had. The 1/3 hp is good for my needs. It is quieter than the InSinkErator it replaced. The mounts were the same, so installation was easy.

I haven't used one of these since I lived in California in the 70s where these were standard. After buying a new house to renovate, I HAD to put one in. It’s been great for getting rid of string beans and carrot grating shards. My plumber had no problem adding it during the upgrade and I’m very happy with the results.

Out of the box, this garbage disposal looks and feels like a quality unit. Installation was easy with clear instructions. First uses show it is powerful enough for most household food waste.

Easy to install and has plug for quick replacement. If replacing a hardwired unit, you can either cut the plug off the end or put an outlet in. It has dishwasher connection capability. It works great for the average homeowner. I got it as a replacement so I don't know how it would be to install in new installation. The only drawback that I can see is that the grinder chamber isn't stainless steel.
