Tank Booster Pro with Breaded Hose & Temperature Gauge Reviews

These units work OK when they work. But having now installed four of them in various rental property locations as well as our home, we are running into failures that could create a hazard for unwary users. The photos show the cold-water input of a three year old mix valve that failed with the white plastic backflow valve partially dislodged and completely blocked, resulting in 140 degree hot water being pumped throughout the building. Fortunately I discovered this before a renter got scalded. Moreover, when I removed the entire mix-valve assembly to replace it with a brand new one, I noticed a buildup of black sludge inside (see photos) which came off on my hand when I put my finger inside. Upon closer examination the supplied combination black rubber seals and particle filters appear to have partially decomposed, which I assume is where the black sludge came from. And it seems likely that the black sludge was also distributed in the hot water supply through out the building.

Had a problem with my new walk in tub having enough hot water even though I have a new 40 gal heater. Was told about this device, installed it and have more hot water than I need. GREAT product.

The 1st tank booster lasted 6 years. This was an easy $125 fix. Drain below and just replace. Do not over tighten or you will crush the washers. Gives us much more hot water.

The original fittings that it comes with leaked a lot. Had to replace them with different ones. Otherwise we have way more hot water and it lasts a lot longer

It was time for a new hot water heater and all I could source locally without a special order was a 55 gallon tank. I am coming from a 66 gallon tank which wasn't always enough with a family of 6. Since I have installed the tank booster I have not run out of hot water. You turn the tank up to 140 degrees and then limit the hot water going through the house with the allen wrench supplied. They recommend 120 degrees but it seemed too hot so I have mine set for 117 degrees. I've only had it for one month but love it so far. The extra insulation and efficiency of the new tank has covered the expense of having the hot water heater a lot hotter than normal. Also not as much hot water is used so the tank does not have to create as much new hot water.
