“As other reviewers have noted, the hot water pressure is reduced, but there is definitely more hot water. As installed by a professional, the default temperature setting will only produce lukewarm water. Once you crank it up it works OK. The adjustment was a little nasty. The manufacturer included the wrong size hex wrench and the lock nut doesn't behave as it's supposed to. While we do indeed have more hot water now, we still run out once in a while, especially in cold weather. At an installed price of over $450 I'm not sure I shouldn't have just bought a new water heater, but we'll see. My crawlspace only has room for a 50-ga. tank, so I would need to reconfigure things to get an 80 ga. hot water heater. Overall I am pleased, but winter has just begun.”
“Less water pressure so filling my tub is a bit slower, but plenty of hot water now. This is the more expensive model because it has a temperature gage. If I had it to do over again, I would get the cheaper model without the gage, as it is not necessary and is just another part to install. They could have put another gasket in the kit, but I had one so it worked out. Installation went smooth except I was not familiar with Sharkbite fittings and didn't know they turned, so I included a union above the unit. The crappy union leaked and I had to take it apart again. Problem is, the mixing valve has a check valve in it so you can't drain your hot water lines, so breaking that union to fix the leak was a messy proposition.”
“I installed this about a week ago. While I plan on leaving it in, I have to point out one big flaw. This does reduce the pressure of the hot water lines. Before installing this, we could have multiple showers going with no issue, now we can, but there is a significant drop in pressure. While I believe that the benefits outweigh the pressure issue, I wanted to point it out. Other than that, install was easy, and I have definitely noticed that I have more hot water. I can now fill two soaker tubs with hot water to spare and I only have a 50 gallon heater. So it does provide more useable hot water at the expense of water pressure.”
