The Taco LB-075-H-2LF LeakBreaker represents engineered protection specifically designed for tank water heater installations facing catastrophic containment failure risks. This MPN LB-075-H-2LF system integrates a precision-machined brass full-port valve body with an engineered polymer actuator assembly, creating automatic water supply interruption when floor-mounted sensor pads detect moisture presence beneath hot water tanks. Unlike generic leak detection devices requiring external mounting hardware, this 3/4-inch NPT threaded valve assembly installs directly into cold water supply lines serving electric hot water tanks, gas hot water tanks, and heat pump water heater configurations. The complete LeakBreaker package delivers immediate flood mitigation by halting incoming water flow within seconds of sensor activation, preventing the 50-100 gallon water release typical of hot water tank leaking scenarios. The LB-075-H-2LF model's dual-power capability allows operation on 120VAC mains electricity with integrated battery backup functionality, ensuring protection remains active during power interruptions affecting electric hot water tanks. This brass-bodied valve achieves a 32 Cv flow coefficient rating while maintaining zero flow restriction through its full-port internal geometry, supporting standard residential water heating demand without pressure loss affecting heat pump operation or conventional tank water heater recovery rates. What Makes the Brass Valve Construction & 125 PSI Pressure Rating Superior for Water Heater Protection? The Taco LB-075-H-2LF features investment-cast brass body construction with 3/4-inch female NPT threading at both inlet and outlet ports, eliminating sweat connection requirements common in alternative hot water tank installation procedures. The valve body measures 4-7/8 inches in overall length with a 4-3/8 inch height dimension, creating compact installation profiles in confined mechanical spaces typical of hot water cylinder installations in residential basements and utility closets. Internal valve components include PTFE seat material rated for continuous exposure to 135°F potable water service, with FKM elastomer seals providing chemical resistance across water heaters electric and gas configurations. The full-port ball design maintains the complete 3/4-inch internal diameter throughout the flow path, achieving the 32 Cv rating essential for supporting simultaneous hot water demands from tank water heaters serving multiple fixtures during peak usage periods. This MPN LB-075-H-2LF valve operates at a maximum working pressure of 140 PSI with a shut-off pressure rating of 125 PSI, accommodating variable municipal water pressure conditions while maintaining reliable closure under full line pressure. The brass alloy composition meets NSF/ANSI 61 standards for potable water contact, ensuring suitability for installation on cold water supply lines feeding Energy Star certified heat pump water heater models and conventional storage tank configurations. Static pressure tolerance extends to 300 PSI, providing safety margin against water hammer events occurring during rapid valve closure or when thermostatic mixing valves modulate flow rates downstream of the hot water tank. The valve's engineered polymer trim components resist dezincification and galvanic corrosion when installed in mixed-metal plumbing systems combining copper supply piping with steel tank water heater nipple connections. Installed by my plumber in Oct 2017, purchased from plumbing supply. In December 2020, a leak from ABOVE the water heater caused the LeakBreaker to trip. It could not be reset without removing the power head from the shutoff valve. Taco has refused to acknowledge the problem with their valve, promoting instead a software change to the control unit. My plumber has replaced this unit with a different manufacturer's product.

Got 2 of them. One worked just like it should. I can also shut off the water supply by pushing a button instead of having to crank a valve now. Called about the other’s defective sensor and was told by Home Depot I would have to return the whole assembly for warranty, not just the part. Since I wasn’t going to undo the whole thing, had to find & replace the sensor on my own dime.

Easily installed. Our city claims to have great water. My only issue is after 2 to 3 months, a film or residue adheres to the valve ball and prevents complete shut off and opening. If it had a little more power, it might be able to operate to clean off the residue.

Easy install. Quality components. Taco can be trusted. There are less expensive leak detecting systems, but when I saw Taco, I went with it. Well worth the extra money.

Installed on main water line to hot water tank. In a 2nd-floor condo, if the tank goes bad, the water valve shuts off, and I put a pump on the tank pan to pump away the 40 gallons.
