“Taco motorized a flawless valve with this model. I've had it on my Geothermal heat-pump for 5 years with zero issues. I cannot say that about unmentioned valves tried previously. Taco shows why they are the true innovators, and the obvious class of the field.”
“Easy to snap off the motor, making sweating the valve body straightforward. Can be used in any orientation. The only improvement I'd like to see is a built-in loop for a zip-tie so I could secure the cable to the motor body.”
“Bought two of these zones as backup replacements for two older valves. Had to replace three of these last year from the heating and air conditioning company that replaced them. Cost me an arm and a leg. Much better to get these from Plumbing Supply and install them yourself. Takes five minutes to install and work great.”
“Replaced a Honeywell zone valve with this unit. This is a much better design, using a ball valve instead of the moveable plastic ball in the Honeywell, BUT the ball is not full port. The actual opening is less than 1/2", though still seems to be less resistance to flow than the Honeywell. Love the LED when the valve is powered up, and the manual control on the top of the valve, which shows where the valve is positioned. Also the way the operator is so easy to remove for service or change-out. Would have given it 5 stars if it was full port.”
“I always use Zone Sentry on new installations and frequently use them to replace old zone valves that are not working. The flow rate is higher because of the ball valve instead of a flapper. Frequently I can use just one transformer where formerly there were two. To keep from breaking the plastic knob that manually changes from open to closed do the following: release the zone valve body from the base, but do not remove it completely. Then turn the body 90 degrees. That will close the zone valve without the danger of breaking the plastic turning knob.”
“Being able to accurate this substantial 3/4" MOV via a 24 VDC thermostat feed utilizing the valve's internal capacitor is a huge advantage. Very low current draw for a positive shut-off ball valve. Secondary valve output contacts turns on the boiler and circulators after the pump is fully open. Really simplifies hydronic coil in hot air system installations.”
“As a hydronic heating contractor, we install a lot of zone valves. We used a couple of these for the first time today. I really like the fact that they are actual ball valves, that they can be mounted in any position, and do not have a direction of flow. Time will tell how reliable they are, and for us, that will be the real factor in whether we continue to use them.”
