“I used this product with an electric hot water heater and it has worked well. One of the features that I really like is the built-in unions. That way, if the valve ever fails (or you botch the installation) you can detach the threaded connection and fix the issue.”

“Installation easy. However, out of the 100 or so threaded fittings in the system I just put in, all 3 of the female threads on the unions leaked/blew out the PTFE paste. Being an engineer, I used calipers on the minor diameter of the threads, and they were .015 larger than spec for NPT. In other words, they may have cut the threads with a worn tap. I finally got them to seal with 4 wraps of thread tape AND Rectorseal paste. Otherwise, the valve works fine. I would recommend, but beware.”
