“Was having problems with my heating system and decided to replace the four zone values before working n he furnace itself, Decided to replace the valve and the controller. Controller is easy; just turn t take out and turn to put in new on and then reattach wires. Valve takes plumbing skill so I had my son-in-law do it. Took him about an hour. Now heating system works like new”
“I get about 15 years out of these valves before they start leaking, but otherwise very reliable. You can replace the internals without having to unsolder the valve body, which is nice if you're not comfortable with a torch - drain the system first. If they've been leaking for a while, you may have trouble getting corroded screws out. Sometimes I use a dremel tool with a mini cutoff wheel to get things apart, other times I just unsweat and replace the whole valve. If you just need to replace the powerhead, unhook the wires, twist the old one off and put the new one on and reconnect the wires, no need to drain the system.”
