“The product cannot stand water with minerals in it, and Taco's guarantee is worthless according to the Chicago areas rep, the seat sticks, you just buy a new one. Taco won't help. Design-wise I can't help, all I know is some last a couple of months, some last years.”
“The actuator (head) of one of our 4 zones got tired. I bought this item as a replacement. It was pretty much plug-and-play -- swapped the old unit out, this unit in, and connected the wires. Heat works again. Unfortunately, I had to buy the whole unit, and ended up with the solid copper base valve sitting in a drawer in the garage. I wish the actuator were sold separately.”
“The seat assemblies start to leak after 3+ years. I believe that the copper bellows that keeps the piston watertight just starts to breakdown. Taco fails to redesign it. The assy. costs as much as the valve, so if you get the whole valve and take out the seat assy., you must recycle all the brass on the outside. It's a poor and costly design and not worth the trouble for the long haul.”
