“Not positive, I'm sorry to say.
First, the belt has essentially no finishing. It is simply a piece of leather cut into a belt with a buckle attached. The website spoke of burnishing and polishing of the edges. If there is any of this, it is not evident. The edges of my belt look nothing like the edges of the belt in the photo on your website. I enjoy minimal design as much as the next person, but this is too much.
Second, the leather loop used to secure the belt end is too thick. As a result, it deforms the belt itself, causing it to have an unattractive concave shape in the area around the rivets. A small point - but it does nothing for the belt’s aesthetics in my view.
Third the extra leather was not sufficiently trimmed after the rivets were installed, leaving 2.5” of “flappy” leather that gets in the way when you put the belt on. This flap has to be fed into the pant waist loop along with the main length of the belt or else it gets caught in the loop. Again, a small point - but annoying.
Finally - and most annoying - the underside of the belt has been left as rough suede rather than being finished to be smooth (or at least semi-smooth). While this suede feels very nice to the hand, it works like glue when putting the belt on. Rather than being able to feed and slide the belt easily through the waist loops, you have to carefully feed it through each loop by hand. This is just annoying. No other belt I’ve ever had - including other hand-made belts - has ever had this problem.
On the good side, the buckle is substantial and attractive. The leather is lovely and supple. And the belt does seem like it will last a lifetime. Still, a belt of this quality and price should be pleasant to use. This one is not.”
