“This is a very nice cover and is very well made. I'm quite certain that it will be very durable. Slips easily into hip pocket, although not with the pen. Well Done!”
“Big fan of Popov Leather, so keep that in mind. After a wallet, several watch straps, and a few nick axle I finally got my field notes cover and was very please with the results. As always popovleathers team is excellent, and their products represent a great value.”
“I'm so happy with the quality of this cover. I got mine in English Tan, and it looks really, really good. The leather is thick, and all the little details stand out. It fits the Field Note notebooks just right, and the pen loop is perfectly sized for a Pilot G2. With a little stretching, the loops would also fit a larger pen body (but maybe not a thick fountain pen barrel).”
“This English Tan cover is seriously one of my favourite things ever. I scored mine during a sale, but honestly, this is worth every penny of the full price. It's beautifully constructed, the leather is supple and smells fabulous, and the pen loops are functional both when open and closed. (They're a little snug on most of my pens, but they will stretch!) And the tan stitching is durable and looks great. When I'm rooting around blindly in the depths of my bag, the leather texture makes it instantly recognizable. Can't wait for the patina to develop. (My husband is notoriously indifferent to such things, but even he has commented on how nice it is. I may have to get another for him to keep for himself, as he ain't getting this one!) Also, a quick tip for fellow fountain pen fans: when the provided memo book is full, I'll replace mine with a Clairefontaine 1951 pocket notebook (9x14cm). Clairefontaine's paper is even nicer for fountain pen use, and the pocket size fits perfectly in the Popov cover. The Moleskine Volant journal (3.5"x5.5") also fits well.”
“Ordering and all was good. I received the product and it appears that the leather was drawn on with s pen. I can tell because the mark goes under a stitch.”
Hi Brian - sorry to hear you're disappointed with the cover. That is scarring, not a pen mark. Scarring, marbling, stretch marks and even branding is common on full grain leather products. Over time patina develops and the leather will darken up and these marks can fade. I encourage you to keep using your cover, but if you're not satisfied with your purchase, please reach out to us and we can set-up a return process for you.
I strongly encourage you to check out this blog article I wrote about the different grades of leather, and why natural markings indicate a superior grade of leather: https://www.popovleather.com/blogs/from-the-workshop/the-ultimate-guide-to-leather-grades
“This really blew me away. Right outside of the box, the thickness and smell of the leather had me. The Field Notes cover fits perfectly, of course, and the two card slots can probably fit up to 4 cards each. I had issues fitting a $5 bill without folding it once, but I do not carry cash very often so this is perfect for me. The free Field Notes cover included by Popov was icing on the cake.”
