“I recently ordered the Pro 50 set for my husband for Father's Day, but they are secretly for me as well! The adjustment on the handle that releases the bonus 2.5 lb weights was bent and very hard to move. I contacted the company and they were very easy to work with, immediately sending me a replacement handle. We are really enjoying the Pro 50 set! It's very quick and easy to change weight amounts and I love that it has the 2.5 lb. weights, especially for women. It's a big jump on the arms to go up 5 lbs., which is how most other dumbell sets are designed. I also love how compact this set is! We could not be happier with our purchase. :)”
“I was delighted to find that these dumbbells can be increased in 2.5 lbs increments. Changing the weights is rather simple. It is not as fast as some other brands, but having the 2.5 lbs increments is more important for me. Now I can quickly go from one exercise to the next with different weights. They look great on the nightstand in my bedroom. too.
PowerBlock should fix the error in the specs for the Pro 50. They erroneously did not list 12.5, 22.5, 32.5, and 42.5 as of 6/26/2024.”
“Been lifting for a long time, but not consistently enough. These things make being consistent a lot easier.
I had the Elite EXP model prior to this one - I liked those, but rarely need to go above 50lbs, wanted a faster way to move by 5lb increments. These met that criteria.
Originally I wanted the 50 Sport - sold exclusively through resellers - because those have all metal plates, no polyurethane involved.... but these arrived and the build quality is REALLY good. That is not even a concern anymore.
One surprise was that you can even remove an adder weight on these to go with 2.5lb increments, between any set of 5 lb increments (not possible with the EXP series of powerblocks as sold).
I didn't think I'd like the more open grip area - but prefer it over the more enclosed Elite design.
At first, the slider pins wouldn't go in the 50lb position easily on one dumbbell - the plates are marketed and having the ability to twist - so I took the outside plate off, twisted it back and forth, put it back, and the pin reseats perfectly... I guess it had gotten a little off during shipping. The hard welded metal plate powerblocks don't have this problem.
I thought I'd regret swapping over to the Pro 50 set - but I should have either done this much sooner, or done this initially.... even though a good condition set of power blocks sells fast in the secondary used market.
If you think you won't *immediately* need more than 50 lbs a side, want the 5 lb easy adjustment - the ability to make 2.5lb changes between any 5 lb increment, and want good build quality - get these. Just do it.”
