“Howdy. Knocking out a quick review on the 175 pound behemoth dumbbells I recently purchased.
Pros:
They go up to 175 pounds each
They start as low as 12.5 pounds.
It takes up half the space that a normal garage gym dumbbell rack would take up.
Switching weights is quick and easy. No more having to reach super low to that bottom rung at the local gym to return the big boys.
Cons:
These things are massive! Almost a bit too massive. When you get above 130 or so they start to become a bit cumbersome to kick up into the bench press position. But let’s be honest normal dumbbells that big at a gym are just as cumbersome, it just feels worse because of the way it engulfs the wrist and hands.
I really wish they’d offer knurled handles for these. It would be an instant buy for me. Especially when it comes to trying to grip dumbbells this heavy while I’m sweating my behind off in the garage.
Shipping was quick. Came in 7 boxes from fedex. Took about 20 minutes to put together the rack that holds the weights. I elected to not install the wheels even though they were heavy duty.
I’d give these a 9/10 and it’s only the lack of knurled handles that losses one point. Otherwise these would get a 10/10.

“I rarely feel compelled to write product reviews, but the PowerBlock Commercial Pro Dumbbells have earned my praise. For nearly a decade, I worked as a collegiate strength and conditioning coach, and during that time, I never gave PowerBlocks a chance. However, when it came time to equip my garage gym, I faced limitations in both space and budget, making a full set of traditional dumbbells impractical. So, I decided to give these a try.
I have to admit—I was wrong to overlook them. The PowerBlock Commercial Pro Dumbbells are an outstanding product, worth every penny. Their versatility and quality have exceeded my expectations, and I would confidently recommend them to anyone, whether for a home gym or a professional facility.
The only reason I'm not giving a full five-star rating is due to an issue with the condition of the product upon arrival. Prior to purchasing, I reached out to PowerBlock to inquire about the availability of returned or used equipment at a potential discount. They respectfully informed me that they do not offer such options. However, when my dumbbells arrived, it was clear they had been used before. There were noticeable signs of wear, including rubbing marks on the outer weight cylinders, handprints on the handles, and some loose hardware.
Despite this, the quality and functionality of the dumbbells have been impressive. I would purchase them again without hesitation and recommend outfitting any gym with a few pairs. The product itself is phenomenal—my only caution is to be mindful of the condition in which they arrive.”
“The perfect upgrade from my 90lb powerblocks. While the width of these are noticeably larger, it's necessary to get the amount of weight in dumbell form. Love these. Currently on bodybuilding prep so haven't gone above ~120lbs yet but as I bulk back up they will get their use!”
