Each Ecosphere contains small shrimps, (3 4 in a small) filtered seawater, algae, gorgonian and gravel which are all part of the working closed Ecosystem. All the surfaces act as hiding areas for the shrimp where micro-organisms can also attach themselves. The gorgonian (branch) is a non-living material and is hand cut for each individual Ecosphere. Therefore, no two Ecospheres are alike, making them truly unique gifts.

“As someone who isn't allowed pets in rented accommodation, the Ecosphere fills the gap as a pet! It requires little to no maintenance and is fascinating to watch. I only wish I had bought a bigger version! The Ecosphere requires light to function with the algae creating oxygen for the shrimp. Too little light and the algae won't create the oxygen. Too much light and the algae will create lots of algae and imbalance the system. Since the Ecosphere isn't to be left in direct sunlight I have mine on top of a cabinet which has dim light for several hours through the day. This, so far, is a perfect place. Lovely gift. Great for kids and adults. And safe!”

“I bought this for my son's birthday. He thought it was the most original present he has had. He loves anything scientific, and his wife has even named the three shrimps, so you don't have to be a boffin to appreciate this unusual and interesting gift.”

“I can not rate this item highly enough. Gemma McCurdy at Prezzybox was very helpful and liaised with the supplier to get it here for the exact day I wanted. The Ecosphere arrived gift wrapped and extremley well packaged. I called the supplier as I had a couple of questions and he was really friendly and helpful. I am really attached to these little shrimps already and don't want to give them to my mum for her birthday. Everyone who has seen the Ecosphere loves it too.”

“Just for info- I haven't bought one of these from hear but have one bought elsewhere at least 8 years ago! Only one shrimp left now though .... but he's going strong! Makes them good value when they last this long. My little boy is now really interested in it!”
