“I have been using the jaylow for a year, hauling 2 fishing kayaks between Syracuse, NY and the Cape. Overall these racks are great. That said, the nuts and bolts vibrate loose so apply loctite right out of the box to the ones that secure the hoops to the plastic base.”

“I only use Yakima, so there's a lean here. Love this kayak holder, because it's ready to mount, easy to fold down and raise, and I've got the upright position allowing stacking of other kayaks. That's a main feature. The other feature are the angled ramps allowing sliding the boat into the cradle. They work as described. I've used the fixed J cradle for years. With those I had to raise my 18 foot glass kayak up and over and in. At 65 years old I have to spend more time in the gym to do that easily. With the Jay Low I can go another 5 years, and easily throw the whitewater boat onto the fixed version. The only down side is noise. I have the cradle folded and at the end of the bars over the towers. There's a loud whistle happening that I haven't been able to eliminate. With so many holes and bends and corners I need to just wrap a big wad of foam around the whole thing. For now I reach out and try to block the wind at different points to get the spot. Still working on it.”
