These are great and I have 2 sets of them. Being able to load the kayak from the side of the vehicle and place it on top with little effort is super. Yes, they are pricey but when you consider the cost of replacing a mirror or body repair because you dropped the kayak and broke something it's worth it. Especially when you are on your own.

Have a bad back and now able to get kayak loaded with ease. 2 problems: 1) removing and reinstalling very difficult for 1 person. 2) the lock system seized up after 1 use.

First, let me say that I really appreciate Rack Attack's friendly service and expertise. I bought the Hullavator for use with kayaks and it's a great lift system, however, I've gone back to a saddles and wheels setup which, even though it's awkward, I can manage by myself if I don't have a paddling companion. Being a short woman, I don't have the upper body strength to grip both Hullavator release handles at the same time and rock the cradles up, out and down. Of course, the empty cradles can be lowered one at a time, but not when they're holding a car-topped kayak. Not being able to operate both release handles at the same time is also a problem when a kayak is in the lowered cradles and must be raised to the point of auto lift. Some kind of central release system that could be temporarily locked open would be nice; a single individual could then use the strapped-in kayak for help with the lifting and lowering. I suggest that potential buyers be advised that for many paddlers, the Hullalvator is a two-person operation. Thanks for soliciting feedback--Leigh Coffey

It's hell without it, that's for sure! I can have my kayak loaded, by myself, in no time.

A very ingenious rack that is a great asset to help load and unload a kayak especially when you are by yourself. Very sturdy but a bit on the heavy side. I love how it works, locks and holds the kayak well.

I absolutely love the Hullavator! I used to need help getting my kayak on the roof of my car. Now I am able to place it on the carrier, secure it with the straps, and use the hydraulic lift to get it on my roof. Easy-peasy! I am able to kayak so much more now since I can do so with ease. Last year with the Hullavator, I kayaked more than I ever have. This is a game changer!

They are a Godsend for a senior with shoulder ailments. One complaint is that the rear latch hooks can bend if the Kayak comes down to hard before they slide over latch bar. Had to pry back one into place.
