I went on my first roar hunt this year and was dropped into the ballot block by helicopter, 7 days on the wild and wet west coast of NZ. Took mostly Radix meals for lunch (performance 600) and dinner (expedition 800) to keep the calories up and the weight down. What can I say, pretty tasty tucker for a just add boiling water meal. High meat content as opposed to other brands and it's just a good feeling to read the ingredients list and know exactly what everything is for a change.

Best meal yet. A solid flavour, nice spice, good mix of textures. I added a bit too much water 200ml instead of the 175 and it ended up being a little too watery. Left it an extra 5 mins (15 min total) and it thickened up a bit. I'd recommend the prescribed level and adjust as needed after the wait period. Highly recommend this meal, could eat this daily and not get sick of it. Was surprisingly satisfied despite normally eating a 2 person serve of the competitions meals.

The meal was very tasty, warming and filling and will definitely buy it for my next adventure. Even wished I had bought it for every night of my last walk.

I have tried quite a few dehydrated meals over the years but recently discovered Radix. On a recent hike to Princess Bath I took along my first Radix meal, Mexican Chilli with Beef. I found it to be delicious and filling, much nicer than other meals I have tried in the past. My only tips would be that I thought it required a bit more water than stated on the packet and to leave it a bit longer than recommended to allow the avocado to fully rehydrate.

Really like the whole foods, real ingredients. I have two issues with this when out hiking… I don’t know what 175ml is on the go. So I either end up with a delicious, yet slightly dry cat biscuit textured meat balls, or a delicious Mexican soup. 5 minutes is also never really long enough to leave sitting, unless as mentioned above you like the cat biscuit texture. On the whole though, great flavour, great convenience, and the tear off top means I don’t need a bowl.

At the end of a day of hiking this was a great meal to replenish energy ready for the next day. This was the first time I have used dehydrated products, I chose Radix as it meant I could confidently know all the men on the hike would be sufficiently fueled for each days activities.

Radix has stepped up the bar with their expedition meals, high nutrition for fast passed travel in the hills. The Mexican chilli with organic beef is full of Taste, I even tried it with cold water and some chilli flakes added as I'm a bit of a hot food freak and still enjoyed the meal.
