“Beautiful and functional with my Ratio 8. I love the aesthetic in my kitchen and on my table, the modern simplicity of the design - beautiful when both filled with coffee and when empty. Holds enough coffee for guests, family, or just myself.”
“Beautiful piece of worksmanship. Had to replace recently but still have original carafe as a spare. The newer version pours more gracefully even looks great sitting empty on the counter.”
“Order came quick and perfectly packaged so the carafe wouldn't break. Quality of the carafe is excellent like everything else I have received from Ratio. I use my machine everyday for about 2 years and it continues to work flawlessly!”
“The magnet on the bottom of my carafe does not appear to register with the machine's sensors. Customer service has offered to replace it, but that seems wasteful since the carafe itself is fine. I've solved the issue by placing a thin magnet underneath the carafe to improve the strength of the field--it seems to be working so far.”
“I am trying so hard to make this carafe work with the Ratio Six but am having a very hard time. The bottom line - in my experience the flow rate from the brewer is just too fast for the cone filter.
I have tried every kind of filter - Chemex, Hario large size, Able Kone - and none of them seem to be able to keep up with the flow. Not to mention the “bloom” feature on the Ratio is about a quarter of the full tank of water (I am generally making four cups) which is just too much.
I’m using a medium grind and am actually going to replace my old breville grinder so that I can start testing different grind sizes to see if that helps. But that’s the last in a long line of variables I can test. Hoping that works but I do feel like for a $500 machine it would be a little easier than this.”
“Open to updating this once I've gotten a better feel for the best setup; however so far my experience has been mixed. I am using the Carafe with a Ratio Six.
I'm finding that the rate at which the brewer sends water through the grinds is a lot faster than the filter allows through. As a result, the water gets backed up above the grinds and slips through the sides of the filter - resulting in weaker coffee. With the flat-bottomed filter this wasn't an issue.
Going to try different grind sizes and have also bought the Able Kone to see how that goes - but am a little disappointed in the initial performance considering the investment I've made in the kit overall.”
Hello Randy,
We'd love to help! In our experience the Kone does a better job of optimizing flow rate for tighter grinds. With the Chemex filter, we recommend going pretty coarse and perhaps bumping the dose up to 80 grams.
Let us know how it goes with the Kone!
