Ratio Six Thermal Carafe Lid Reviews

The Ratio Six thermal carafe lid is remarkably bad. It is surprising to find such a poorly designed component on an otherwise excellent coffee maker, which brews high quality, consistent coffee. However, the lid drips constantly, retains water after rinsing it, and generally causes a mess when pouring from the carafe. The lid is so bad that it is almost a deal-breaker on the Ratio Six overall. The only solution I have found is to give up on the carafe entirely and use my chemex with the coffee maker. Apart from the carafe lid, I’m otherwise very happy with the machine.

Pros: Actually seems to be noticably different than previous versions and dripping seems to be finally under control. Cons: I had to pay for it. This makes the 3rd lid I've received from Ratio for my Six. The original one had the stopper come loose & cause leaks. At that time, I was sent a free replacement but that free replacement seemed to be the exact same lid as the first and started to have the same problem with the stopper coming loose & causing leaks. This version seems to have a different stopper (button depress "feels" different) so hopefully its all good now!

The upgraded lid is much better than the original and you can tell they listened to customers!

Ratio very kindly sent a free replacement lid for a leaky one. Unfortunately the replacement is as leaky if not more so than the original :( Looking forward to a carafe overhaul as the current design is close to unusable.

The thermal carafe pour sprays. It is not a nice clean pour. This makes it difficult to pour into a thermos bottle or something with a small neck.

The silly lid of the Ratio Six is what prevents it from being among the best drip coffeemakers out there. It is just poorly designed, and it leaks like mad when you simply try to pour a cup of coffee. You end up with a cup + a counter mess that you inevitably have to clean up each time. What makes matters worse: Ratio has known for years that customers hate the lid of the Six. Seems like it would be rather straightforward to just design a new lid. Every single other drip coffeemaker I’ve ever owned has a better lid, even machines that cost $50 -- not $365. It’s not rocket science. To make matters worse, the lids wear out after a few years. The valve opening deteriorates even more, making pours even messier. So then, you get to spend $10 (not to mention your valuable time) buying a new one! Fix the damn lid, Ratio. I’ve stop recommending the Six to my friends because of a lousy $10 lid.

Love that it keeps the coffee hot for a long time! The spout does cause some mess, so I hope they can continue to tweak the design. Overall, very happy with this lid.

Works nice. The only improvement I would suggest is to be able to clean the inside of the lid.
