“While this makes a GREAT cup of coffee, I seem to have problems with the filter flopping over and letting coffee grounds into my coffee. I've taken to pouring the last cup through a strainer, which solves the problem for me.
Some things I really love about the Ratio Six include:
1 - it has a much smaller footprint than the Ratio Eight
2 - it's really easy to set up in the morning
3 - it does make a REALLY good cup of coffee
Things I don't like about both the Ratio Six and the Ratio Eight
1 - they need to improve the wiring. On the Ration Eight, the connection of the wire to the machine sticks out from the back of the machine at least an inch. That's an inch x the width of the machine of counterspace I'm losing. Add to that that they don't sue 'flat plugs' to plug into the wall and that eats up more room. Flat plugs are fairly common, and wires that connect under the machine instead of outside of the machine are also common. Both would be improvements.”
“We want to rate our experience higher BUT, for reasons not understood, the Ratio 6 would not function. A note has been included with the return packaging. We have no idea where the fault lies: shipping; the operators (i.e., us); Ratio 6 malfunction?
Nonetheless, we are very pleased with our Ratio 8 and appreciative of the generous offer to loan us a Ratio 6 while our Ratio 8 is being repaired!”
“Coffee quality of the Ratio 6 equals that of the Ratio 8 (my seven year old Ratio 8 is in for servicing). This makes the 6 an interesting proposition relative to the 8, with the main difference being the premium build quality, which accompanies the 8.
Also, great service from a great company enabling properly good coffee for me while I wait for the service to be completed on my machine.

“I really don’t want to be negative. But I’m not a fan of the six. I think it’s clunky and definitely doesn’t brew as good coffee as the eight that you are currently repairing. I’m not sure if it’s because the heat gets trapped from the rubberized gasket or if it’s just a craft. I do love the eight though it really is a very cool coffee maker. And makes excellent coffee. If it wasn’t for the issues I had with the first one I purchased for having finishing issues with the powder coating and then the second one failing after only six months of use. I would recommend it. I really hope the company can continue to make exceptional coffee systems. Reach out if you’re interested in expanding good marketing.”
“Love this machine. I have the Ratio 8 and in some ways I prefer this machine. Build quality of 6 doesn’t feel as good as 8, but it’s more than fine for everyday use. Coffee tastes identical from both, but is far warmer from the 6. 8 has aesthetic look, but 6 sleek lines grow on you. 6 definitely takes up less counter space.
So impressed with the loaner 6 that I’m considering purchasing it.”
